Remember these are the basic nitrogenous molecules that comprise the DNA of all living things. Adenine, thymine, cytosine and quinine represent the nucleotide building blocks of life on earth. But how did they originally make their way to earth?

This question has been fueling scientific and spiritual debates for decades. Recently, there have been claims that meteorites have been found with “pieces” of these complex molecules embedded within. The inference here is a seeding of planet earth from deep space 4.5 or so billion years ago. Was life on earth therefore accidental and attributable to cosmic chance? 

I have several problems with this theory. First, we have been unable to accurately reproduce conditions for “accidental” formation of these complex nitrogen based building blocks of DNA, so what evidence is there that conditions in deep space would be conducive for such an accidental formation?

A now famous attempt to reproduce our cosmic ancestry was carried out in 1953 by two chemists, Stanley Miller and Harold Urey. These famed researchers injected a gaseous mixture of methane, ammonia, hydrogen and water into a closed system of flasks and applied electric charges to simulate lightening strikes. Low and behold their mixture produced “pre-biotic” compounds. The key term here is “pre-biotic”. As it turns out, converting a pre-biotic compound into a “biotic” one is not so easy. In fact, Miller and Urey’s experiments never came close to artificially producing actual nucleotides. Moreover, their use of hydrogen nullified their claim of reproducing early earth conditions, given the fact that earth at that time was comprised of carbon dioxide and not hydrogen. Carbon dioxide is far less reactive than hydrogen. 

My second problem with this cosmic theory of origins lies in the unanswered question as to how a collection of organic molecules (even if they existed by accident in space) could have done so much. They flew to earth embedded in meteorites and then miraculously collated themselves into complex amino acids, proteins, DNA/RNA and functioning cells? I don’t buy it.

The conclusion seems obvious to me – we were deliberately scripted to be. We are therefore not writing blogs like this or having discussions about where we came from by accident. We were meant to deliberate on such thoughts. We were designed and engineered to be in this present state, form, and time. So where did this blueprint for life come from? I believe it came from a master architect and designer - an all knowing, all powerful entity: GOD! Who else could create something out of nothing?
